Dr. Shawn Fortin is the Director of Teaching and Learning for the Belchertown Public Schools in Belchertown, MA. He has fifteen years of experience in public K-12 education in MA and has used his knowledge of instructional technology to develop and teach coursework for students, teachers, and administrators. His work with leadership and service-learning has been recognized by a variety of organizations interested in advancing humane education—the Institute for Humane Education, the National Youth Leadership Council, and the Pollination Project. He has presented at national and regional conferences on using technology to support student engagement, facilitate service learning, and leverage school-level leadership. Shawn holds a Master of Education degree in Policy, Planning, and Administration from Boston University and a Doctorate of Education degree from Northeastern University where he conducted research on student motivation and engagement with collaborative technology (social media) as a learning tool.
